Reply:When welding with innershield it seems like you are way to hot if you have it set right. To me I think you gotta turn it up!
Reply:What is the purpose of using gas with fluxcore?Sure, I can fix it... I got a welder!!!
Reply:like i said, i am learning how to operate the power supply, the feeder, & learninghow to fine tune the entire operation. i am not sure about the use of gas, but on the spool of wire & the inner door of the suitcase thats what they recommend & it sure makes for some nice looking welds, can any body help explain, turn it up? i had to turn it down, was under cutting like crazy, its only 1/4" angle,

Reply:Hey rdionne,There is nothing wrong with using f-c or dual-shield wire for an application that the material is thicker than 14ga, especially a newbie with f-c. With some serious practice, & the correct dia.wire(ex:.030), 16ga(.062) can be done with f-c with a backing to reduce/eliminate burnthru. Maybe impractical to some applications(ie. auto sheetmetal), although not impossible. I use Lincoln NR211MP, 030 & .035 for a lot of the outdoor repairs on my mobile unit & on breezy days. You don't need gas with f-c.....you do with dual-shield. Get some smaller dia. f-c wire & practice & you will see it is quite useful & produces a great penetrating weld. Look at the wire mfg. designations as MP is multi-pass, any with a GS or /1 designation is single-pass.DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:71M is a dual shield wire, so gas is required. On my Powcon the volt meter only displays actuall volts while I'm welding, and a much higher reading when I'm not. Try welding something blind while watching the display on the Powcon. Checkout Lincolns website, and see what their recomendations are for voltage and wire speed, 300imp sounds way too fast to me, and your volts should probably be in the mid twentys to low thirtys range (while welding) I'm thinking, and your ipm might be somewhere around 175ish? I know it took forever to fine tune my setup with my Powcon 300SM and Xtream 12vs.Hope that helps, once you get it right, that is a bad a$$ little set up.Trailblazer 301GDynasty 200DXSuitcase Xtreme 12VSHypertherm PMX45Powcon 300SMPower Mig 180Power Mig 140Millermatic 210

Reply:I run a "dual shield" fluxcore with Lincolv 71M .045 wire daily in heavy equipment repair... try turning up the heat a bit and use virtually no weaving motion... steady does it. Makes for a factory look as long as the base mtl isnt super heated or else you travel will be much faster to reduce fallout or rollover. Good luck, great start! |
