can you run mig or flux with a hobart champion 10000?
Reply:The champ 10000 is a constant currant machine and will not work as a mig welder. I dont think there is even a place to plug in a feeder on this gen. You could get a mig welder and plug it into the aux power.
Reply:A VS feeder set to CC would work.
Reply:okay, so I looked at the 8 and 12 vs, it will work with cc, has anyone used the vs with cc? will the results be comparable to cv current? I was thinking about the vs or the miller 211 autoset and powering it with the hobart, what do you guys think?
Reply:id go with the passport plus only 45lbsits 115 and 230 has a spoolgun
Reply:I have tried using a VS feeder on CC. It sucks. With Big wire, its a little better.TRY one before you spend the $s.Come on over and try mine.David Originally Posted by eyeball engineerokay, so I looked at the 8 and 12 vs, it will work with cc, has anyone used the vs with cc? will the results be comparable to cv current? Reply:I have a couple CV/CC suitcase style wire feeders. I've had good luck with them feeding .045 flux core with shielding gas. I agree at least somewhat with David R. I don't think They weld very good in the lower ranges of the .045. A good friend of mine has an older Hobart Champion 16 8000W He used one of my feeders on it & told me he pretty much had to have the Champ 16 maxed out to do very well with it. I don't remember what the Champ 16 is on the DC side but somewhere around the 180-200A range I think.I've never tried .035. I have had the CC/CV feeder hooked to a CC (stick welder) one of the old round top 250/250 AC-DC Lincolns. It really did perform quite well on that down to about 125A on the DC reverse side.IF IT WORKS, DON'T FIX IT2 Lincoln CV-300 / LN-7 GMALinde-VI 253,400 & 450 w/MIG35 feedersCNC Table with Oxweld O/A & Hypertherm 1250G3Lincoln Ranger GXT 250Hobart-MicroWire 300ESAB Heliarc 161ESAB-Mobilemaster 2 CC/CV Feeders& more
Reply:I bought a 211 about a month ago, and I just ran it off of my hobart 10000 with a #8 100' cord on the 240 side today, works awsome, just thought I'd put that out there in case anyone else was looking to do the same
Reply:VS-CC will work OK on Spray Arc and Flux core. The machine will not react fast enough for solid wire, except Spray. JGSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. : |
