How to get my shop approved?

So, I want to bid on a job for the state, and on the plans there's a note that reads:"A.  FABRICATION OF ALL STRUCTURAL STEEL SHALL BE DONE IN THE SHOP OFAN APPROVED FABRICATOR. INSPECTION AND APPROVAL FOR FABRICATOR'S SHOPS USED FOR FABRICATION OF STRUCTURAL LOAD BEARING MEMBERS, COMPONENTS, MATERIALS OR ASSEMBLIES SHALL CONFORM TO CBC SECTION 1704.2."So here's the code:"1704.2.2 Fabricator approval. Special inspections required by this code are not required where the work is done on the premises of a fabricator registered and approved to perform such work without special inspection. Approval shall be based upon review of the fabricator’s written procedural and quality control manuals and periodic auditing of fabrication practices by an approved special inspection agency. At completion of fabrication, the approved fabricator shall submit a certificate of compliance to the building official stating that the work was performed in accordance with the approved construction documents."Where do I get written procedural and QC manuals? Would the AWS D1.1 or lincoln procedure handbook work for this purpose? Where do I find a special inspection agency qualified to inspect my shop?Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools

Reply:Is the 1704 code you reference a state code? I can't tell by your post. I'm sure there is a process thru the state to get on the approved list. We  have been thru this process several times not only for approval for different types of work but for dollar amounts.
