So there are quite a few threads out there on work benches out there and I know it would be stupid to weld on wood but I don't want to lose my work bench. I see people just putting some sheet metal on it but I was wondering what else I could use? Would it be ok to weld on tile? I just don't want to put sheet metal on a outdoor work bench tile is the only thing that pops into my head. Any reason why not to do this?Thank you Max
Reply:Tile will probably get chipped up, scratched to hell with metal fabrication.  That, and you'll have to ground all of your work, rather than simply grounding to the table or bench.  Just get a thin sheet of steel to lay over the wooden bench you've got.-AaronJet 17.5" Drill Press1942 South Bend 16x84 Lathe1980s Miller 320A / BP --- 2013 Power Mig 2562012 Jet 7x12 Horizontal BandsawVictor O/A Setup
