Has anyone on here competed in this? My instructor was telling me he wanted me to do this next year and that Washburn Tech hasn't had anyone good enough to enter in the past 3 years. Could mean cash prizes, welding equipment and career opportunities. Seems like an interesting deal.
Reply:I don't remember any cash prizes. 1st place at the state level did get a welder though. 2nd and third got stuff too like an auto dark helmet or some hand tools. 1st place at state qualifies for the nationals. They were held in Kansas City the years I competed. Pretty interesting to see.Read your books, learn how to read prints, get lots of hood time.My name's not Jim.... |
