I never really realized how tough and stressful ironworking is. I have done a little commercial plumbing and demolition so I know how stressful commercial jobs can be. Ironworking definitely takes the cake in my experience and I know I havnt even scratched the surface.I just started work as a structural welder this week and honestly was doubting if I had it in me but the pay check fixed that. Our team is my boss(welder), me(welder) and 2 laborers. I have included pictures of all the projects we have done this week.I give any structural ironworkers my deepest repect.1st = me and 1 laborer just bolted 4 of these down they where already at the site just had to be moved.2nd and 3rd = me and the 2 laborers attached 170 feet of 4x6x1/4 angle to the top of this concrete face.4th = the whole team errected this canopy5th = we attached the top 3 4x4x1/4 angle peices to 3 doors for garage doors to be mounted onto Attached Images
Reply:1st = we attached 5x5x1/4 angle to the bottom outsides and 3 4x4x1/4 to the top for a larger garage door to be mounted2nd = my boss fabricated these handicap railings in the shop while the laborers and I where working at some of the jobs and after the day was through. My boss a laborer and I just got them up and as you see today. Attached Images

Reply:That crap was from the concrete guys trust me it wasent fun to work around.
Reply:Looks like somebody is spending some serious $$$ on a big building. 60 truck docks. What was the building and what will it be?It reminds me of a building I used to rent space in. Former knitting mills that shut down in early 2000's. Was slowly converted into light industrial space and then eventually into commercial space. Big building with lots of industrial potential, now supporting lawyers and accountants. The 10,000 square foot room that I had my shop in had 1600 amps of 3 phase 230 volt power. And enough air conditioning on the roof to cool all that generated heat. And that was one room. The whole building was about 200,000 square feet.-Jim
Reply:Nice work. Good to feel tired at the end of the day and being able to see you accomplished a good little bit.Be careful taking pictures of job sites. Some companies really freak out about it. One outfit I worked for found out a company used their name in a list of their customers in a magazine ad and they got a call from the legal department right quick.AlA man is judged by what's between his legs...always ride a good horseMiller DialArc HFLincoln Classic 300DThermal Arc 181iPowermax 45Scotchman Ironworker(2) BridgeportsOkomota Surface GrinderAutoCAD 2010
Reply:Great work. I've done a few metal buildings in the past and really enjoyed the work as well. Heck I even enjoyed shaking out the steel. Thanks for sharing.
Reply:Looks good.We just finished 6 thousand feet of hand railing which we are installing on a pedestrian bridge which we are erecting next week. Lots of work and lots of traffic delays lol.
Reply:Thanks guys. I dont think I will be sharing anymore pictures for legal reasons but I really wanted to pay respect to iron workers so figured I would risk it this one time.Someone told me its going to be a plumbing and electrical parts distribution warehouse. Definitely set up for something like that. Theres tons and tons of shelving and roller ramps and tracks.
Reply:im an ironworker. its definitly tough work sometimes. wait till you get on a beam building. thats where all the fun is for sure. i mainly connect, but will weld whenever i get the chance. stick with iron work, it pays well and is an awesome job field. everyone looks up to an ironworker.  Semper Fi. Kill 'em all
