welding alu with DC pulse TIG/stick welder

could someone straighten me out on this - I'm looking for a TIG forhobby purposes and was thinking of an AC/DC model to be ableto do alu, but then on another foreign forum I read an old thread where there was mention of welding alu with a DC pulse TIG/stickwelder - is this possible (I forsee doing very little with alu and this wouldsave me quite some money)
Reply:although i prefer to use achf to weld aluminum, i have used dcep to weld it too with tig. i have a lincoln invertec 155 which is capable of only dc welding. with dc though you will need a decent sized tungsten or the tungsten will melt on you. i use a 5/32" tungsten at about 60 amps dcep for aluminum when i cant do it on my big tig at the shop. it works nicely. practice for a bit and you will see just how easy it really is.
