Hey guys I am a self taught welder and have a query. My machine is a 400amp WIA, 80% of my welds are 3-5mm hot roll. My question is; can you have the same strength in two welds using a different technique from one another? I.e welding 3mm sheet together; Can a good vertical down weld @300amps, be just as effective as a good horizontal pull weld @ 150amps, in terms of joint strength?CheersDaveLast edited by dpac; 01-28-2010 at 04:59 AM.
Reply:Yes, but u would have trouble doing a vertical down at 300 amps lol. Bit hard to tell what amps u would need in the different position for the same strength.
Reply:If you're getting good solid welds at 150amp in the horizontal, then try the down at 180amps. Nothing is going to tell you better than trial and error. You know how you get to Carnegie Hall don't ya? Practice.Last edited by ArgonWelding; 01-28-2010 at 01:06 PM.Reason: spellingBill LambertArgon WeldingABQ NMSic gorgiamus allos subjectatos nunc |
