The HF (high frequency) start on my old Lincoln 300/300 welder had stopped working and after a lot of trouble shooting, Im thinking that the problem is in my dirty rusty colored cooling water. I flushed it out and put distilled water in it, ran it for a while and there is still a tint of orange rust color to it. I tried the welder and the HF did work and for a few tries it didnt . Ill flush the system out again this evening. Is it possible that the HF is getting grounded through the dirty coolant? Thanks

Reply:Well, I didn't smell it before I flushed it once. I found a metal part, which I think was part of an insert thing that held on the cover on the cooler. It had been sitting in the water for years rusting, so I think the color of the water is from rust. |
