I am planning a fence using 2" square tube for the posts and stringers. I want to use 2" for the gate as well. My question is, will a standard deadbolt fit a 2" thick gate? I want to use a standard front door type double cylinder deadbolt so it can be locked from either side.Miller Challenger 172Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC 225/150Miller Maxstar 150 STLVictor 100CVictor JourneymanOxweld OAHarris O/ASmith O/A little torchNo, that's not my car.

Reply:My door is 1 3/4" There may be an adjustment on the deadbolts to allow 2" or you may be able to modify the little bar inside and use longer screws?
Reply:Use a lock box. the the tubing size can be kept the desired size.
Reply:I took Tapwelder's advice and got a lock box. I also decided to make the gate 1.5" to match the lock box and make everything easier.Miller Challenger 172Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC 225/150Miller Maxstar 150 STLVictor 100CVictor JourneymanOxweld OAHarris O/ASmith O/A little torchNo, that's not my car. |
