Long story short, I was asked before Christmas if I would make a smoker for a friends boyfriend. I said sure, she wanted to know how much I would charge and I said $300. I gave her my word and I have learned to think before I quote a price from now on...started out with a sheet of 10ga stamped into 4 sheets.1/3rd sheet of diamond plate3 sticks of 3/4 angle1 stick of 1-1/2 square 30 hours later including the hog and its ready to deliver..We are from Arkansas so I had to make a Hog for the front.
Reply:realy nice..And the HOG is fantastic. My daughter has been after me to build a smoker for her. I had the similar thoughts for a design as yours, except I was going to add a fire box to the bottom rear with a sliding door between the fire box and smoker that would allow me to regulate the amount of heat and smoke into the smoker itself.
Reply:I made another one before this one with a firebox/grill on the lower side and found that a lot of heat was being wasted and the temp goes up and down more rapidly.
