Here's couple of the projects I've been working on the last couple of weeks (along with many others).   The first is a gate we built last week but hung today. It's 9' 4" tall and 20' long. Made from 3" .083" wall tubing. It's not as heavy as it looks but plenty stiff.   The second is a fuel tank. I made it from 12ga and it'll hold about 60 gallons. Reply:Very nice looking gate. I'd like to see a close up of the wheel brack fabrication and also those hinges on the straps if I could. I plan on building me one similiar and attaching to railroad ties. Thanks for postin.
Reply:How did you check you fuel tank for leaks? With water?

Reply:Only use a couple psi of air. A tank is a bomb if it ruptures.Leo

Reply:Good job on both projects, Irish!! The barb wire on the fence top reminds me of a wrecking yd fence I saw many yrs ago in Lordsburg, NM. He had a hedge of choya (SP) cactus around the entire yard. Probably more effective than any man made fence.                                                     MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw

Reply:Here is what I did to keep the wheel on the ground for a sloping driveway.  Once you figure out how much difference there is of the slope you can figure out how much travel you will need for  your total wheel travel.   Mine was simple and this is what it wound up looking like.---No good deed goes unpunished---

Reply:nice job on the gate. what did you use to bend the brackets around the pole. i like to use my Hosfeld. [/QUOTE]this nicely overdone gate guide will deffinately never allow the gate to feel any bump, rock or dog in its path. lolIf you like my stuff you can find me on Facebook.  https://www.facebook.com/theangryanv...ngryanvilforge

Reply:For the weight of the gate?  I just did a quick measure and guestimate of how much I thought it would weigh.  Then I figured that I would need a 400lbs spring to keep some of the load off of the hinges.  I'm sure that if I had a larger slope things would look different.  Look at some of the linkages from dirt bikes and so forth.     Yes, it's overkill but hey it's my gate and it really didn't take long to figure out what had to be done.  I'd like to market something like that, but I don't think people would even try to put this onto thier gates.---No good deed goes unpunished---
