I'm trying to make some adjustable feet for a roller stand I"m making for a sheer for a friends sign shop. I have some 1 inch all thread rod that I will be using. My question is how do I make it like a C -clamp base so won't spin at the bottom of it and grind in to his nice floor and not fall of when screwed back up? Any help would be great.]Lincoln PT 225 Tig
Reply:Slice off a 3/4" or less section of 1 1/2" round stock, bore and counterbore for a small machine screw...1/4"... to pass through the middle with the counterbored hole slightly deeper than the thickness of the screw head and the bored through hole slightly larger than the screw shank, bore and tap the base of the all thread to accept the screw, slap 'em together.Sort of like the following example.Last edited by WyoRoy; 03-13-2011 at 02:42 PM.Lincoln PrecisionTig 275Miller 251Miller DialArc 250Bridgeport millHossfeld bender & diesLogan shaperJet 14 X 40 latheSouth Bend 9" 'C'Hypertherm 900Ellis 3000 band saw21"Royersford ExcelsiorTwo shops, still too many tools.
Reply:Get yourself a 3/4" coupling nut. Weld to leg. Get 3/4" carriage bolt. Turn up side down and screw in to the coupling nut from the bottom. Done.A carriage bolt won't chew up the concrete and already has the square on it for a wrench. You can add a jam nut to "lock it down" if you wish. If you really want to get fancy, cut yourself some rubber donuts to put under the carriage bolts before screwing them down.My name's not Jim....
Reply:I think one of the WW members made these. I'm not exactly sure where I got them so I cannot give credit where credit is due. When I see a good idea, I save the pics. Attached Images

Reply:Carriage bolts and coupling nuts sounds like a simple and quick solution as well to me. Thanks for sharing that one.
