Needed some extra space to place a 10" rotary table and dividing head near my mill, so I decided to jack up the top box and place them under it. Here's the process using my CNC (Cause No Cash....to buy one)plasma cutter on 1/4 plate. If I ever own a CNC plasma cutter or better yet a water jet I'll go nuts.....Step 1 Prepare the program and load into the computer:Step 2 Testing the program cutting and "Pattern" making using Manual "CNC" Scroll SawStep 3 Test Pattern is spit out ready for QC and fine tuning Step 4 Onto the manual CNC Table t cut the 1/4 inch plate using the pre-programed programStep 5 First piece from the cutting operationsStandby.......
Reply:Step 6 Squaring up the two pieces Step 7 a bit of weldingStep 8 Weldment complete on to structural testingStep 9 Structural testing Step 10 test fit and onto painting

Reply:Might as well make it look good.... and you did. Nice project.
Reply:Great job....looks nice. Now....if you had the cnc you could have drawn and cut the parts in about 15 minutes........then if anyone else wanted the same parts you could just import the file and cut them anytime.Trust me...having a cnc plasma in my home shop has just ruined me.Jim Colt

Reply:sweet! and a good way to utilize space. I know guys that would pay some good money to have random little stuff like that done up for them."The credit goes to the man who's actually in the arena..."
Reply:Mr. Colt--having a CNC would no doubt ruin me too, someday I manage to squeeze out the money. I also suspect that these would get less expensive as time goes on. Thanks.

Reply:Nice job. CNC is a great thing to have.. But I've noticed that I'm getting a little rusty with the torch because of it.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom. |
