Just got another used forklift. Gauges were broken and old plastic instrument panel was broken as well, so I bought new gauges, cast a new instrument panel out of aluminum, machined it with more holes to add more gauges, rewired forklift to get rid of all capillary tubes [such as water temp and oil pressure, then installed new sender units for the new gauges], installed new oil pressure light. Now I have an amp, volt, oil pressure, water temp, fuel and hour meter gauges. Panel on the right made for tilt and lift levers. Switch to the far right controls lights in gauges and one head light so I can use the forklift in the dark. I am very pleased with how it all turned out, have a good one, Jeff. Attached Images

Reply:Looks good.. Now you gotta sandblast and paint the whole thing. Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:Thats awesome! looks like it was a factory part.
Reply:Thanks for all the good reply s, I enjoy seeing other peoples hard work as well, Jeff.

Reply:Casting aluminum?  Holy crap!  What kind of setup do you have to do that?Looks great!"These instructions are at our present level ofknowledge. Legal requirements do not exist.Technical issues subject to change."_________________________________________Lincoln MIG PAK 180Lincoln AC-225
Reply:Jeff, very nice castings. Looks great, better than factory.
Reply:That's some good stuff. I love that feeling of re-constructing and have it come out nice. Almost finished with my Lincoln restoration and it feels good. Thanks for sharing. Oh, and aside from sandblasting and re-painting, you need to restore the white graphics on the control levers. Lincoln Idealarc 250 (circa 1962)Lincoln Weldpak 155 w/Mig KitLincoln Squarewave TIG 175
Reply:that is some good work there. i can respect a man that knows how to cast parts. If you like my stuff you can find me on Facebook.  https://www.facebook.com/theangryanv...ngryanvilforge
Reply:Since it worked, I can't really criticize, but why did you run the sprues from the long side instead of the short side?  It seems that I would have done it the other way.I'm not trying to be critical, just wondering if there's something I am not seeing here.  Great piece.
Reply:Jeff:Great work! I too would like to see how you do your aluminium casting. Now you need to put your own logo on the panels. Work that nice needs to be taken credit for.Glenn.Sign on East Texas payphone: Calls to God 40 cents......it's a local call...
Reply:You cast your own aluminum instrument panel 'blanks'?     I would have probably just said 'OK, skip that little lip around 3/4 of the edges and just make it out of flat sheet/plate'.So a big    to you there. So if you are going -that- far in redoing things, why not add some extra 'bling' and jewel/engine-turn the panels and then maybe home-brew color anodize them?      The best laid schemes ... Reply:Jeff:Thanks for the headsup on the Gingery series. I'm going to order the whole series as well as the one on the back gears for his lathe. My lathe has a few teeth stripped off the back gears and it's hard to get parts for it now. So I now have a great alternative for it.  Can you post some pix of the lathe you built? Thanks again.Glenn.Sign on East Texas payphone: Calls to God 40 cents......it's a local call...Originally Posted by StampederJeff:Thanks for the headsup on the Gingery series.
