Here's a few pictures of a hay feeder that i made for feeding square bales. It's 4' x 4' square, made from 1'' sq tubing. The slanted bars are also 1'' in diameter. Put the sheet metal on the bottom to keep them from dragging the hay out of the bottom. Put it on skids to move it easier and to keep the rest of the feeder up out of the mud. Attached Images
Reply:Hahaha. I wish that was my shop! Its probably 40'x80' or so big enough to pull a new john deere combine in, a mack tandem grain truck or a john deere 8420. Not all at once tho. The shop belongs to my girlfriends father and he farms 4000 acres or so. My favorite part is the propane heat! My shop is open to the outdoors so i guess you could say its real big! (4x8 welding table outside in the elements.) I get pretty mad when the wind takes my gloves and welding helmet and places them 15 feet across the drive.
Reply:Great looking feeder. Is that primer coat or the color you went with?
Reply:Both! Rust-oleum rusty metal primer. A couple heavy coats and called it good.
Reply:jwolf:Nice job on the feeder. First time I've seen one like that for squares. With the slanted bars you must be feeding cattle with it. I'd like to build something similar for horses with the bowed uprights as they do for the round bale horse feeders.Cheers.Glenn.Sign on East Texas payphone: Calls to God 40 cents......it's a local call...
