Being new to the forum I hope this is not an inappropriate place to post this question.I have been working on a project that has several rather tight corners where I have welded structural angle iron members together that I can not get a wire brush into. My normal 4.5 inch wheel is not even close. I took a 1" wheel on an air rotary and still can not get it into the crevice to clean it for the second pass. I do not have a needle scaler and only have seen pictures of them but wondered if that might be the needed tool to do the job.Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to get into a very tight corner to clean out the slag from the weld before a second pass?

Reply:No air chisel but a hammer and chisel is not doing an adequate job IMO.
Reply:I have a small sand blaster that I have used as a pre weld cleaner and slag chipper.

Reply:this is one of those jobs where you wished you had the right tools, i would invest in either a Air Hammer with long chisel or a needle scaler, both of those would remove the slag ~ treat yourself its Christmas |
