Does anybody have any good ideas for cheap Welding advertisement that work for you
Reply:Craigslist.   depends what market you are going after and what kind of welding u are wanting to do. local clubs and groups are good ways to get your name out there..Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
Reply:Good quality work and word of mouth. This might also be an idea...http://weldingweb.com/showpost.php?p...41&postcount=6 Originally Posted by yorkiepapOk...there's some mental fodder for you to contemplate. The word can spread tremendously to your benefit if you do quality work, have a fair price, & never take any work you don't have the knowledge or experience. Reply:Body shop here in town has all their vehicles vinyl skinned with very loud colors.. building is painted to match. It definitely draws your attention.tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
Reply:Maybe make some cool keychains, business card holder, or other swag from scrap when you have downtime.  Make sure they have your company name or logo on them. I work for a software company and we do this with decent results.Harbor Freight Inverter 130 amp DC stick/tig (sold, really!)Lincoln Square Wave Tig 175 AC/DC stick/Tig

Reply:Whats your market? are you general welding or selling a product?I make 4wd accessories, I am a high profile member on another forum and sell heaps through that, produce quality products and people seek you out. I never intended to make this a business, it just sort of happened due to demand.Cheers Andrew
Reply:If you're focusing on a local market, pleased customers will be your cheapest, best source of advertising.  Several of my best customers even keep my business cards on display, and call me when they run out.  I've found newspaper ads and CL to be complete wastes of my time.  "Can you come to my house and weld a broken leg back onto my folding table?  I can get a whole new table for $20, so would $5 be fair?"
Reply:About 20 years ago when my shop was in a little town, a man drove up to the shop saying he was in advertizing. He said at the size of my business that I should be spending around $1500 a year. I thought about it and asked if he had heard that word of mouth was the best advertizing. He said that he had. I said that I would just do $1500 worth of free work every year for people that really needed it and I would let them talk.It has worked great all these years.
Reply:I agree, it's definitely not worth going to a customers house, set up, weld, pack up and charge $5.  I agree with those who say you can stay at home and not make any money, why go out if you are just going to lose money anyway. On the other hand I have welded lots of chairs, baby strollers, kids bikes etc at my shop.  Usually for a minimal charge or for  free.Creates a lot of good will in the community, word of mouth recommendations  and some of those jobs have led to larger, profitable projects."The reason we are here is that we are not all there"SA 200Idealarc TM 300 300MM 200MM 25130a SpoolgunPrecision Tig 375Invertec V350 ProSC-32 CS 12 Wire FeederOxweld/Purox O/AArcAirHypertherm Powermax 85LN25
Reply:Word of mouth. Your not going to start a business one day and have people flooding the doors the next. Quality work will get people talking about you and over time more and more will come in. Personally I have gotten tot he point that it is hard for me to keep up by myself in the shop. All word of mouth.
Reply:Don't rule out Facebook and other social media.  Plenty of publicity, and even among the younger crowd, you'd be amazed how many boy racers need brackets, tubing, etc. welded up.
Reply:A sign is a one time cost compared to newspaper/ radio etc. I have a small billboard at the local livestock auction barn.Dont underestimate the yellowpages however.Lincolin Power Wave 450, Lincoln Powermig 255, Lincoln Pro Mig 140, Lincoln Squarewave Tig 275, Miller Big 40 G(with Hobart Hefty suitcase), Thermal Arc 95S and Esab PCM875 in an already full machine shop.
