so I thought I was ordering the victor performer heating and cutting outfit for propane but i got the one for acetylene. does anyone know if I can attach a smith propne heating tip to a victor handle? also is there any way to get a propane heating tip for less than a hundred bucks? any input would be helpfull. thanx.

Reply:The handle attaches to a mixer or injector which attaches to a tube which attaches to the heating tip.How many btu/hr do you want? The $100 stuff is probably bigger than you want or what size propane tank you have. If you let the propane tank freeze up the flame gets sucked inside the tip and melted brass spits out, at least it did for me. I would think one could tig weld brand x rosebud tip to brand y tube so long as the mixer used was the correct size. Not sure if an oxy fuel braze or silver solder would be acceptable at the heat in that area.I have shortened long golf club sized tip tubes to something reasonable with oxy fuel brazing and a beveled joint I don't see why one couldn't change brands of stuff in this manner.Last edited by fran...k.; 12-26-2012 at 10:49 AM.
