Reply:Freakin' Awesome! That looks like LFB on the top....  and Brazed round stock branches!  How did you get the BEAUTIFUL effect / texture on the Bonsai Leaved surface (top).Cheers,Miller Diversion 165120 amp Buzz BoxVictor Oxy/Ace Oxy/LPGSmith "Little" Oxy/LPGHypertherm Powermax 30Lot's of Misc. tools n' crap....
Reply:Thanks Jman! The leaves are brazing rod, Clean and grind metal table, hold brass rod about a foot above table and "drip" rod to table with a torch. Overlapping as needed. Let cool , braze to stems.
Reply:those look great. What did you use for the bottoms?
Reply:the bottoms are 1" plate cut at an angle, weld 3-5 welding rods with flux broken off to base, heat and bend rods with torch, add brazing to trunk and limbs, make leaves and braze to limbs. Tip: i have found its best to keep them 4-6 inches tall. For some reason bigger ones never looked quite right.I wish i had a photo of another set i did, it was 3 limbs with 3 bigger leaves overlapping each other, they were really cool.Last edited by moose13; 04-02-2011 at 04:07 PM.

Reply:Those would make for some nice gifts.
Reply:I really like those man!  I have only made one bonsai and had a little trouble figuring out the balance.  But I liked that rock...(Retired) Professional firefighter, amateur everything else I try to do...Oh yeah:  Go Big Red!   (You know: one of the 12 members of the Big 10 cuz we left the 10 members of the Big 12...)
Reply:Now there is some great looking trees that should last more than a couple hundred . Looks great
Reply:Thanks fellas!
Reply:These are really great!!!! May we "borrow" the idea? I like the carved metal "stone" base!Wonder if the foliage color could be varied with adding some silver solder? Thanks for posting!200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.
Reply:Go for it Bert! Yeah getting the right bevel and shape on the base is key. I always added a few stick on felt circles to the bottom of the base to protect furniture etc. I like the 3 leaf versions i did, bigger overlapping leaves. Sorry no picture.Last edited by moose13; 04-06-2011 at 09:42 PM.
