Reply:Cylinders that need need bushings in the holes..All welds were done with .045 70S-2..150? amps..3/32" Red End..I get all the fun jobs.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Your welds are always the best. Mike
Reply:I can never get the stack of dimes on carbon steel, but when I do aluminum it just happens.
Reply:Is ther much meat on those sleeves? I find that thin ones tend to pound out prematurely, and it is cheaper to just build up the bore and only have one machining operation.

Reply:Originally Posted by zapsterYeah we do also but we go by what the customer wants..1/4" wall on the excavator...1/8" wall on the cylinders..They are not going anywhere soon......zap!
Reply:Originally Posted by Pro-FabI agree! The ones that I have sleeved have always been welded with 7018. I definitely like the looks of yours though. How about distortion? Are they going to have to be flapped out, or doe they hold their shape pretty good?
Reply:WOW!! Hope I can learn to weld like that someday. Excellent work!

Reply:Definitely "dime" welds.  So far, I could only use a stack of dimes to try and hide my welds...(Retired) Professional firefighter, amateur everything else I try to do...Oh yeah:  Go Big Red!   (You know: one of the 12 members of the Big 10 cuz we left the 10 members of the Big 12...)
Reply:Thanks Guys..Here are a few more pics of the finished pistons..(By the way I got a new welding chair...VERY comfy for those 6 hr marathons..)Customer was very happy and that's all that matters......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
