I have a 2" water pump and a 1" water pump that I am using to water my garden and trees. I have the cheesy strainer that came with the pumps but I am running in to issues with it sucking leaves up to it and it losing the prime. I have looked around but havent seen anything that would work. I can't be the only one with this issue. Any suggestions.Vantage 300 kubota ,miller 304 xmt ,lincoln ln 25 pro , ranger 305 G, plenty of other tools of the trade to make the sparks fly.
Reply:When pumping out ditch lines with a two inch pump I run into this from time to time. The quick fix is to use a five gallon buck and fill it full of holes, set it in the "sump hole" so that the water does not run in over the top rim and drop your suction hose (with strainer on it) in the bucket. It will last longer than just putting your suction hose strainer in the leaves or mud.miller... 225g, s32p, 250x, 304, 12vs, MSW41 victor o/a thermal dynamics cutmaster 50 lenco panel spotter hobart hf-boxG3 Farms.....raising cattle, hay, kids and hell, ...oh yeah I'm a fire sprinkler contractor by trade.
Reply:Ya thats what I have been doing up till now but my problem is when my ditches get to full where I really need to pump them the leaves and stuff flow over top of the bucket. Thats why I was looking for more of a permant solution. I was thining about building a larger strainer then just a 6" round one like I got now. I was just wondering if any one ever had to fab something like this .Vantage 300 kubota ,miller 304 xmt ,lincoln ln 25 pro , ranger 305 G, plenty of other tools of the trade to make the sparks fly.
Reply:If simply something taller than a 5 gal bucket would work, we used to do sump pits from large diameter congregated plastic pipe with a bunch of holed drilled in it or a bunch of slots cut in it with the demo saw.If nothing else a "lid" made up out of hardware mesh might work as long as the sump hose was permanently mounted in it..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:make a labyrinth. so the water has to go up then over then down. think one larger bucket upside down, with a smaller bucket under that the pump siphons from give it a couple inch air gap between them. so the water has to go under the top bucket and into the other before it gets picked up. should keep all the floating debris out of the top and sinking debris off the bottom from clogging up your works.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches. |
