Hey Guys, If anyone has made any Back Racks, or Headache Racks for there pickup trucks, I would love to see some pictures. I Cant see spending $600.00 - $900.00 for one if I have the tools and knowledge to make one myself. I just wanted to get some ideas, I plan on making mine out of Aluminum and on the top of the rack in the top two corners use 2, 6" oval redlights on 45 degree angles for brake lights, and 2, 4" yellow lights on 45 degree angles for blinkers. Any pictures would be appreciated. Some Blue , Some Red & Some GreyProverbs 16:2-3.2 "All a persons ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. 3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."

Reply:I built this one years ago. The bracket at the bottom is what my greenlee box used to attach too. As I changed the layout of my truck, I no longer have room for said box! When I built it, I pulled the measurement between the stake pocket mounts and measured the height of my cab off the box. Looking back, while it does function as it should, I would like to make another one an inch or two higher.Last edited by mb_welder; 04-11-2011 at 11:38 PM.
Reply:Def. not aluminum, mainly 3/8" and 1/4" steel, weighs about a mertic f&ck-ton when you add in the 8 foot long rail caps. Be careful when you cut out the ovals for the lights, we put the kerf on the wrong side of the outline on one of the tail lights and had to use Goop to hold it in.
Reply:Made these ones awhile back http://tinyurl.com/cx67cs , still makin' them...unfortunately I'm up to 40 or so now, gets boring after abit....Mike

Reply:The letters are steel. I printed them out the size I wanted and cut each section of the letter out of 1/4"X1.5" flat stock. Then welded the pieces into the letter. Took FOREVER.Here is another rack I built for my Wife's uncle. It has 1/2" solid bars twisted for the side rails. Letters were done the same way. Attached Images
