Who else feels like miller has over thought there headgear designs. I bought a miller helmet with the older style headgear and couldn't get it adjusted right or maybe its just my head. LOL! And the helmet just kept falling down, so I bought the new headgear and wasn't to impressed with it either. I mean once I got it adjusted to where it wouldn't hit my nose when it came down it started hitting the top of my head when I pushed it up. And I have tried different positions to get it dialed in but it hasn't helped. I have been using a jackson for a few years now with the 370 headgear and have never reallly had any problems with it. I mean the miller headgear looks like i'm about to go into outer space and weld. Reply:Well, I thank God we are all unique, so designers have a tough task similar to automotive ergonomics engineers with regard to height and limb length. That said, I can never really get either of my hoods just right either.The headgear on my HF basic actually fits my skull better in relation to the height of my head vs the location of my eyes, but is not as comfortable as my Speedglas, especially after extended periods and I don't weld for a living. At least not right now.I find where depth the gear from the top of my head down needs to be to stay in place, it puts the rear of the horizontal band right on the bump on the back of the skull where the spinal cord ties in. Both crowd my rather gargantuan nose as well, even after adjusting out the distance from say the ear forward to the lens. This smudges the inside lens. Then, since the viewing area is positioned relatively lower on my face, I have trouble getting the flipped down angle to not put my eyes too high in the window. So then, adjusting the flip down angle out, I get a lot of arc reflection from under the chin. This make me want to tip my head down more, but that puts my view angle higher up in the window, which is already compromised, Grrrrrr.  I find it sometimes distracts my focus on getting and staying in the "zone". Reply:I was never totally happy with the original headgear in my Miller Digital Elite. After using it for two years, I upgraded to the new Miller headgear (GEN II). It took some time playing with the adjustments to get it to fit  like I wanted, but now I like it much better than the old headgear.
Reply:Seems like the GenII headgear works best for people with larger heads. I have a 7 3/4 and the old school would give me a headache if i tightened to where it needed to be  so i would run it slightly loose causing it to slip. With the new headgear i can have it adjusted perfectly and no issues what so ever.
