This is a little project I've been working on with my dad.  Its a 6' wide manure fork for a skid loader.  It will use 10 standard tines that are similar to round bail spears, but smaller.  You can see the mounting sockets on the bottom, they were purchased with the tines.  I'll have to get some more pictures after paint, and with the tines installed but here it is in the white so to speak. The tubing is 3x3x3/16, the piece of flat that the sockets are welded to is 3/8", and so is the top skid loader mount.  The rest is all 1/4" stock. Most of the design is mine, but as it ended up dad did all the welding because I wasn't around.  I think is looks pretty good from our humble little farm shop. Reply:Some departments would be exceptionally happy to have a '82.    My volunteer department's first line Engine was a '76 up until about 3 years ago.   Second truck was a '69, and the back up was a '62.    Tanks all leaked...   Had to fill up the water tank every night to make sure it was ready to go to a fire.At around $300,000++ for a new truck, it gets hard to buy new ones.     The 2007 was funded 80% through a Federal grant.
Reply:Oh, don't get me wrong.  That 82 will be the newest/best truck in the fleet.  It was just given to them by another department.  A lot of the trucks around were build in farm shops, but that one is a commercial conversion.  He actually build an entire firetruck bed for them when I was young.Miller 250x & Lincoln V205-TSmith Oxy-Prop torch
Reply:Here in MD they got a stupid law stating that the first line piece can not be older than 15 years.  Everything else, not be older than 20 years.   Our 1995 engine is excellent shape, but we are replacing it with a brand new POS.   Heck I know most depts would kill for our oldest engine as a front line piece.  Our 1976 1500 gallon tanker went to War, WA.  Its their first piece out the door and their 1985 engine is the 2nd.   I have a 1992 simon duplex tractor with a 1978 maxium tiller that was donated to a group of us trying to start a new fd in md.  Basically we were told its too old, so don't bother.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A  Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
Reply:Thats because MD is full of wacko liberal pencil pushers that think "newer is ALWAYS better". A new breed/kind from MoCo and such ruining areas such as Frederick and Mt Airy.

Reply:[QUOTE=Sorry to hijack, so, where did you get your tines?  FIL needs some work on his Case.[/QUOTE]We bought A&I tines.  I think we got the 32" in tines and they were around $29.  The sleeves are an additional $9 or so.  https://www.allpartsstore.com/Search...elcSubsc=SBT39Last edited by Chuck; 04-21-2011 at 03:56 PM.Miller 250x & Lincoln V205-TSmith Oxy-Prop torch
Reply:Here's the pictures after paint and assembly.  We were going to paint it black, but the grey was some left over stuff at the paint store that we got for less than half price.  We figure this is the best its ever going to look anyway. Reply:I've been trying to avoid it, but now I feel the need to build a tine bucket.  Dammit........My name's not Jim....
Reply:Only suggestion would be to drill holes and  weld sleeves into a tube. Sometimes those sleevs strtch and then you start braking tines.
