Reply:Looks Good!I don't know if anyone else had to look hard for the electrode in the second picture. First glance looks like he's laser welding with his eyes Wish I had that talent (laser eyes that is)JasonXMT 350 MPA Dynasty 280DXSuitcase 8RC / OptimaSpoolmatic 30AThermco Ar / C02 mixerAssorted O/A gear
Reply:Answer to the first question, I have sent some images to a couple of magazines but I have not heard anything back yet. Answer to 2nd question: I am using a Canon T1i, used a tripod for some shots, the 6010 shots were bright enough that I did not need a tripod. Thanks for viewing and thanks for the comments!
Reply:Really nice pics, the colors and the layout of the sunset pics are beautiful. I was going to use one for a desktop but you've got them locked, smart move.....Mike

Reply:Could you give away any spec's on the camera/filters? I'd like to try some for personal use."...My pappy was a pistol I'm a son of a gun...""...God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy..."
Reply:Welcome to the board. VERY nice work! I had to take a second glance at the title of this thread. I first thought it said "Wedding Photographer". I used to be one for the family business."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:Answer to Asolis- I have a few different lens but this I used mostly my 18-55mm IS lens, (image stabilizer) I used this so i didn't have to use a tripod as much and it worked out great. Kit lenses aren't that great but i think Canon's new ones are.Answer to Crawford- I am using a Canon T1i, no filters other than a UV filter, shot most of them at 400 iso, this worked because of the light from the arc which also allowed me to not use a tripod except for a few shots with my telephoto lens. I was on a f/9, 200-640 shutter speed.
Reply:Be careful. Direct light from a welding arc, the sun, and lasers have been known to wipe out the sensors on digital cameras.

Reply:Does the arc of a weld mess up camera equipment? I had heard that it does, then I've heard it doesn't. Either way, very cool pictures.
Reply:Went to your site. Stunning work!(Retired) Professional firefighter, amateur everything else I try to do...Oh yeah: Go Big Red! (You know: one of the 12 members of the Big 10 cuz we left the 10 members of the Big 12...)

Reply:Originally Posted by AsolisCool, I really like your pics. I use to have a Rebel XT with some sigma lens but ended up selling it cause I was out of work for awhile. I'm really wanting to buy another one, What do you recommend? Here are some of the pics I took when I had it:
Reply:Thanks, all I have now is point and shoot cameras..which the pics come out nothing close to these. Which lens should I go with to shoot something like these and some landscape type pictures? I was using a 28-70 for some of the close ups and 70-300 for the fourth pic.

Reply:Great Info!! Thanks, I think I might just go with a Canon t1i body but don't know what lens yet.
Reply:Jman is right, you get what you paid for. I just brought a 5D MII for X-Mas because it takes all the old lenses an flash i used to use with my EOS630. I know all the other series would have accepted my lenses too.Never brought a lens unless it was Canon.
Reply:Nice photos...I´m a photograper but I never shoot welding photos, just this time. This is a good oportunity to show it.SaludosEmmanuel Attached [email protected] have two good ones. Attached Images
Reply:Is that you Oxy Moron( tripod, self timer ), or someone else?

Reply:Great photos guys !!! I have been in photography for over 10 years but never tried shooting any welding, might have to give it a try.Another great lens is a Sigma f/2.8 150mm Macro..I got one about a year ago and it is a fun lens to have..you can do portraits, scenery or macro and it is really sharp. I like my Sigma 50-500mm, too!!I do have this shot though....Last edited by Goat Driver; 01-07-2011 at 04:51 PM.
Reply:I don't shoot a lot of 35mm (film or digi) but I do like that Sigma 50-500. It should be noted however that zoom lenses longer than a 3:1 ratio are not as sharp as those under that and it goes without saying that a prime lens is sharper still. I shot this with that lens: (NSFW)http://www.roberthall.com/loriduo.jpgWhich actually belongs to the model.
