I have a piece of 1/2 qt400 that I would like to make a rifle gong out of. My question is will cutting it with the torch soften it significantly? Thanks in advance.
Reply:The hardness will likely go up along the edge that you flame cut. The flame cut will not put enough tempering heat in it to soften the plate.
