vertical-up aluminum mig welding

anybody have any techniques that they could share?

Reply:+1 for boostin's idea How about letting people know what you are trying to accomplish, vertical up is kinda wide open and a little research could net you more information then you need depending on your application, your abilities, and your machine. Oh yeah and use 100% argon. thats all I have.

Reply:Your machine and wire speed should be a little lower than it would if you were welding horizontal. Lucky for you, aluminum dissipates  heat quickly. You will need to move faster as you go up.UA Local 598
Reply:why do you need to do vertical up?? I weld aluminum all day everyday and I go downhill. the material heats up so after your hotstart runs out you will be at temp all the way down and since heat rises you will be constantly feeding into slightly cooler material than you would if you were going up hill. Just my thoughts..we dont test anything at my fab shop and nothing bigger than 3/8 plates
