Reply:hope u r not hauling anything heavy, that frame is not going to handle it.... trailers made out of angle iron need a truss style of frame for the support.Tiger Sales: AHP Distributor www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P, Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma. Reply:Nice repair Ed. It also gives the owner a better place to relocate the stop lights into the bottom of the triangles you formed. Does that trailer have a suspension? If not, that's probably what "hammered" the thing apart. The deck just looks really low on the axles. Nice work.
Reply:How the heck do you get all these tail gate jobs? I know alot of people with utility trailers, and none of them need new gates! "Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:The gate and the tires appear to be all that is good there. Reply:My only concern is will this be going down the highway? In your first picture I see a sagging and patched frame, three tires of one size and one of another size, no fenders, and a questionable suspension. I also can't figure out how you destroy a top rail hauling lawnmowers. I don't see any signs of lights or a tag, so I am assuming he is using this on his own property at low speed and that's fine. Just my observations.
Reply:The reason Ed gets these jobs is because the owners he's dealing with are "cheap" and more concerned about the cost vs the quality.Besides that, if they took some of these POS trailers to a real trailer pro such as Dabar, he'd probably condemn a fair amount of them or not let them leave the shop without substantial repair. The problem with ed mac is that he refuses to admit he's in over his head. He's taking on jobs that he should be passing on because he lacks the knowledge/experience to do them right. No "Professional" would ever post up photos of that hitch and claim "I do great work".It's almost sickening the number of "politically correct/nice guys" on these boards who constantly chime in with "Great job ed", "looks good", etc, etc. when in fact the job looks like crap. I don't like ed mac (as another poster has already mentioned) because he's a BS artist, a slow thinker, and claims to be something he's not (Professional).Just recently ed mac posted up photos of welding a galvanized fence. In response several of our "wanttobe welders" chimed in with "looks good, etc, etc. Frankly the welds looked like crap. No flow around the bead, bead all humped up and never reached the root, etc, etc. Frankly, they looked just like the welds a newbie would make a week after he got his first mig. I didn't say a freaking thing about the welds (as bad as they were), because if a fence falls down it's not likely to hurt/kill someone. The only comment I made in that entire thread was to correct ed when he incorrectly stated that "dragging the bead gives less penetration".This guy "ed hack" is a carport hack who should not be welding on anything that goes over the highway. Even a hack should have a framing square so he knows what 90 degrees are.I hope ed's "welding career" doesn't end with one of his POS creations falling apart on the highway and killing someone.Remember that this is the same poster (ed mac here, BC Ironworks on Miller), that blasted Hypertherm because they didn't send him a catalog overnight. and blasted Miller because he didn't like the format of their forum. Reply:LMAO (Again)ed,Per your comment--" I built this gate a while ago. Don't know how it held up."Really.Didn't pay attention the first few times I looked at this thread. Guess I got my eyes crossed looking at all the different angles on the verticals.Last time I looked, I realized that the trailer support for the rear gate/ramp (I assume you fabricated that too when you built the gate) had fallen off, was bent up, and laying on the trailer bed. Did that fall off from the weight of the lawnmower or the weight of the gate while the trailer was traveling down the highway.Don't know about anyone else but I sure as heck wouldn't want that gate coming thru my windshield at 60 MPH.Ed. You really are dangerous. What makes you more dangerous is the fact that you fail to recognize your incompetence.Oh yeah. I suppose this post was a "ruse" also.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
