Sometimes you dont get all you payed for - i had this cylinder repair 3 days ago. It held together time started using it to rip some rock, 2 1/2 " shaft After i grinded the old weld off, welded the hot pass and first filler w 3/32 " 7018 , then came back with one more filler and a cap with 11018 1/8" . Grinded each filler and each start and stop, hope this holds - kinda rough repair - was on site and didnt have time to bring it back to the Hyd. shop.. Attached Images

Reply:Did a couple of cylinders like this on a case backhoe. Tried and failed with 7018 but has been working for years now that I found MG600 (kinda like supermissileweld)Lincolin Power Wave 450, Lincoln Powermig 255, Lincoln Pro Mig 140, Lincoln Squarewave Tig 275, Miller Big 40 G(with Hobart Hefty suitcase), Thermal Arc 95S and Esab PCM875 in an already full machine shop.

Reply:I build new cylinder rams quite often for the loggers around my area and weld the eyes on with 3/32 7018 and never have had a problem. The only time I had failures is when I switched process and welded them with lincoln ultracore 75 dual shield wire. After that I went back to 7018LarryMiller XMT 304 CC/CVSyncrowave 180 SDLincoln PowerMig 255XTTermalDynamics 52Lincoln 305GComlpete machine shop to back it up |
