Trivet for woodstove kettle

Fashioned up a "trivet"  for our kettle to sit on. Our woodstove insert doesn't have a very large area for the the "half" kettle to sit on so I put together some twisted bar porch ballusters joined to the railing (reusing some old material from an old house). Maybe I waisted my time with this project b/c I'm not sure how well the material will fair sitting on the stove. I'll some pics to provide some laughs to the workmanship and weld quality. All my welding projects are really more grinding projects. Oh yeah, I did this with a used Lincoln 100 HD, gas kit, 3/4 spool of wire, and 3/4 full bottle off argon/ co2 bought off CL for $300. It's in excellant condition and I've already repaired a honda dirtbike muffler and built a cart for it I got out of the trashcan. I do pics of that in another thread.Anyway, I'll get the pics for the trivet up. Hopefully, I didn't waist my time.tom

Reply:Tks for the replies and know how. As far as the welds, I think I may grind them down and experiement with the speed and do more weave than what I did. The mig is fun but I think I'm better at stick (I'm sure from the pics that's hard to believe). Seems like with stick that I can see the puddle better.

Reply:Hate it when threads aren't really finished so I better close up this thread with final pics. So far trivet is working well and the back panel is no longer getting paint rubbed/rusted from the back of kettle. Attached Images
