Is anyone running the latest version of the Primeweld MIG 180 machine?  With such a good reputation surrounding their AC/DC TIG, I'm wondering if their MIG is receiving the same praise. Just looking at it, I don't imagine it offers much difference from the tons of other imported MIG machines.  But, again, this company seems to be getting a lot of attention and praise.  A budget MIG that isn't a trainwreck internally and backed by a good warranty can be a good thing.  Plus, it would seem like a good combo with the AC/DC TIG machine.  Been sitting on the fence about doing these two Primeweld machines vs an Everlast Lightning 225.
Reply:I just checked the specs, seems like a lot for the money. I would look on primewelds site and call the #. When I bought my primeweld 225 I talked to the owner and he was a no BS dude. Be sure to let us know if it works out.
Reply:I have emailed these guys a few times over the last 2 weeks with no response to my questions. Everyone raves how good the customer service is. I could call but was turned off by no response to my emails.
Reply:Alex Jordan did a review on it recently. He also has a Primeweld 225. He had a Syncrowave 250 that he got rid of when he got the Primeweld 225, so he seems pretty happy with it. I think he's a pretty darn good fabricator for such a young guy. He certainly knows what he's doing, but this is his first Mig.Kind of impressive that it has Stick on a Mig at such a inexpensive price.

Reply:David that's the email I used. I guess they are very busy.
Reply:I expect so. They just got a new shipment of 225’s so they are likely all hands on deck getting them out. Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkDavidMillermatic 130Primeweld 225Victor Journeymen

Reply:Thanks but I went with a different manufacturer all together.
Reply:Thanks for the offer but I went with a different manufacturer. Scares me when no response to emails and they are a small outfit.

Reply:Originally Posted by TraditionalToolworksCurious, which vendor did you go with that responded to your emails promptly? My experience with Primeweld is the email is hit/miss, but if I was persistent to send my inquire in, Mike would respond. Which vendor provided better email response?I have found that not very many welding companies are very prompt to reply to email.

Reply:Originally Posted by TraditionalToolworksI have gotten email responses from Mike and Dustin both, just not persistent. Phone works best with them, and I felt much more comfortable after I spoke to Mike on the phone. He assured me that if for any reason I was unhappy with the machine, he would refund all of my money and pay for shipping on top of it.My main concern was the ability of the Stick, but as it turns out it does everything Mike said it could do, plus. I have since gotten a Miniarc 180i which is a great stick machine.BTW, the Primeweld Mig 180 is quite a nice package considering it has Stick capability also, and in Alex Jordan's video I posted above his Grandfather is laying down 7018 nicely. Few Mig machines (constant voltage) had Stick in the past (constant current). For a $500 machine that's pretty impressive.
Reply:Esab responded in a few days. Not saying Primeweld is a bad product.

Reply:I just picked up my Mig180 this past weekend and unboxed and used it for the first time today, So other than a few test passes after setting up the machine I can't say too much, but I intended to do some serious burning over the next few days. One little thing that bugs me is that the on/off switch is on the back of the machine the 140 has it on the front so what the heck is with that but it's just something I'll have to get used to, even though I don't ever plan on using the stick welding option I will burn some 7018 just to see how it works.

Reply:even though this thread has been around a day or two I will add that I have had some problems with the prime weld machines but have never had a problem with prime weld customer service. I just talked to Dustin earlier this week after hours and I could hear a small child in the background so when they say 24-7-365 I believe they mean it. I have had multiple issues and Dustin immediately offered a full refund and when I told him I didn't want a refund I just wanted some help trouble shooting he told me he would send me shipping labels and when they got it back they would fix it and send me video of it working before sending it back or replace it. after I got off of the phone with him I was thinking about it and think I know what the problem is so I emailed him to hold off until I can check it out ( which I haven't been able to do yet ) but I truly believe he and Mike are the real deal and will make it right one way or the other if a customer has issues with one of their machines.
Reply:@weldnhack, they are definitely the real deal. Dustin went to great lengths to chase down my welder in May even going so far as to send me another because the original was MIA. And they paid to ship the replacement back. Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkDavidMillermatic 130Primeweld 225Victor Journeymen

Reply:I took delivery of my Primeweld MIG 180 last week. I'm not (yet) much of a welder, in fact this is my first machine. I've done a bit of MIG, stick and gas in years gone by but always with skilled supervision, so I've got much to learn. I did a good deal of research and spoke to several vendors before deciding to go with Primeweld. I spoke with Dustin several times and he was a deciding factor in my choice. Overall I'm quite impressed with the build quality, it seems well made. If it's as good as Dustin proports it to be, for the price, I can't see how it would be a bad choice. As a side note, if you're considering buying one, give them a call and hint about a coupon code. He gave me one and three days later, and $450 lighter I had the machine in my shop!
Reply:Fun Fact: If you leave it sitting in your checkout cart long enough, you may receive a discount code from Primeweld in your email.  I think mine had been sitting in the cart on their site for 4 or 5 hours, when I received a "Did you forget something" email with a time limited $15 discount.
