Some pics of the expansion tank I'm building for my father.

It's made out of 1/8" 3003 aluminum.  I still have to make a couple of adjustments but you get the idea. I do not have any special tools, I did it with a grinder (cut off wheel) and a modified HF bending brake, and a file.  I also tried the new "tape" welding technique, seems to be holding well.   Anyway, ultimately I would like a stomp shearhttp://weldingweb.com/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=10 and a GOOD bending brake, but I suppose those will come eventually.. I'm waiting on the filler neck Zap made for me, and I need to find a gm coolant temp sensor that screws in with the same connector as my father.. OH JOY! the tank is 12" long 3"high and 6-1/2" wide..  anyway, here is da pics.I'll tack it up next weekend.www.thefusionsolution.com

Reply:I should be updating this with pictures of a completed tank.. I was able to weld on the filler neck Zap made for me, and then I ran out of gas, and the airgas place near me was closed. soo, it'll have to wait until next weekend..www.thefusionsolution.com

I was able to weld it up and weld the mounts to the tank, I'm waiting on a couple of bungs so I can weld them on.  some of the pics the welds look like bad *** for some reason, my guess it was the lighting, because they don't look that bad in person.. As for the mounting brackets... well.. My father helped me with them, and I appreciate the help, but if I was doing it, I would have done the work a little different.. but anyway, on with the pictures.. And a couple of crappy cell phone pics of it in the car.. I forgot my camera. now all that's left is to weld int he bungs, "finish" it.. My father wants it polished, I like the brushed look.. we'll see how that goes.www.thefusionsolution.com
