greetings all. looking for some general feedback. I have a smith airline torch , and want to have a little better tip selection. Smith used to do the AW tips in 2000 - 210 by increments of 1, now it seems they go every other 201, 203 etc !! I can find them occasionally on ebay, but most are not in good shape or just plain beat up. I was wondering if anybody made an adapter to use say meco N tips ?? I have not seen any commercially made ones, but sure someone has a homemade one ! my 2 thoughts were getting a meco aviator adapter and threading for the smith mixer, or getting a used AW tip and threading the end to accept another brand of screw on type tips like the meco or even henrob. I thought I read on here where someone made an adapter for the henrob, but can not find it in the search . thankscharlie
Reply:Charlie, I make a smith adapter for the meco tips, in fact I have made conversions for about 30 different current and obsolete torches. Give me a call at 920-420-8906 to discuss what you would like for length, angles and such. -Aaron
Reply:Aaron, actually was looking more for some information to make one myself. I see from other posts on other sites you have quit a collection of older torches !! I am attempting to learn the OA process and as stated would like t use my older AW1 torch as I like the fit and feel. before I go to far about how much are we talking for a adapter ?? my thoughts were to take an older AW201 that I have and thread the tip of it with a 1/4-28 . I do not want to sound rude but is there more to it than that ?? would still possible like to call and talk on the subject if you have time. what is a good time for you ?? thankscharlie

Reply:Aaron, that is actually a really good price, I would like to make one as I enjoy making alot of my own stuff, but for that price it is very compelling. I will try to give you a ring this week if my schedule allows. charlie |
