overhead mig welding

almost perfect example of a good looking weld. i had the gun on to much of an angle on the edge of the plate as you can see. it seems like it was plenty hot because the toe on the bottom plate fused into the metal (dont know if you can see it on the pics)i think it would be acceptable if the angle was corrected what do you guys think?? Reply:I had to razz you, couldn't pass it up! They look good.  You see that edge on the left side of the third picture? My semi-automatic class instructor would tell you to straighten that out. Reply:Looking at the undercut on one side, and the way it rolls over the edge on the other, it doesn't look like this was done overhead at all.  Looks more like it was done in a 2G position.

Reply:I think the plates were horizontal like you suggest, but he welded under the lap rather than over like you would in horizontal. Tecnically this would still be overhead, just it's not the usuall "flat"  overhead lap that would be my 1st thought..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:arms were off the table. i tried it in a few different positions like elbows on the table then one elbow on the pedisal that the table and clamp slides up and down on. but with elbows in the air i seemed to have a lot more control of the gun.why do you guys seem to think i did this the easy way and posted it as overhead? i have nothing to gain by trying to impress you guys. if i wanted to impress you i would not have posted a weld with the work angle all jacked up.
