What tig welding machine to choose

Are on the lookout for a AC/DC tig welder to learn tig welding.Have limited with money and don't going to weld proffesional or something.But want a good machine, who is good for welding manifold for cars, parts in stainless steel and aluminium.Planning on buying a used one to get a good welder for a good price, imortant that it is a AC/DC welder.Anyone got some tips.Have heard about JLT AC/DC TIG 200, is this a good welder, like esab, lincoln +++?Last edited by theblast; 08-17-2010 at 05:05 PM.
Reply:an used Miller Syncrowave 180SD.  Water cooled if you can swing it, but not necessary.  i got mine (non-digital) one for $1400 water cooled.it will do AC and DC.  should be able to any SS/alu manifold on cars.best tip: post your location, and find experienced welders in your locations.  A case of beer goes a long ways in instruction.
Reply:A Syncrowave 200 or TA 185 if you are looking for new. Used you can find Syncro 180's or 200's used from $1100-1500 depending on condition and accesories. You can find older transformer machines like Miller 330A/BP's for as low as $500-800 often with coolers. Lincoln makes some nice tigs also.
