I have a project coming up that will be building two entry doors in the style of the casement window. Problem is, I'm having a hard time finding a source for the steel used in it. I've been looking around for hours with no luck. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and/or have any idea where I can get that stuff? Here is a picture to give an idea, although not exactly what I'm doing. Reply:I have made a couples of those windows and repaired about 60. Tee material in that dimension is not manufactured anymore. I fabbed the tee and zee material. I ripped stuff to size as needed. Really not difficult if you have a model. A few yrs ago I started a thread on this forum on the first one I built. There is a company in New York that has the stuff, yet they do not sell it.Apparently the either recycle or have access to original manufacturing equipment.Large steel doors are very popular around here. I think the stuff comes from Mexico.Last edited by tapwelder; 07-29-2011 at 03:10 AM.
Reply:Ok, Thanks! We have looked for old ones to recycle but it's slim pickens around Atlanta, seems they either get crushed with the building or pulled out and thrown away. I guess I just need to get a sample and fab from there.www.somethingdifferentftw.blogspot.com
Reply:There might be some Aluminum extrusions available that match your needs. |
