I have an HH MVP 210 that will marginally spray .023 steel wire, nothing bigger. I've tried short circuit welding Aluminum on low settings with horrendous results. It seems spraying for aluminum (mig machine) is about the only way to get good results. Do I have enough power in my welder to accomplish this. With such bad results so far, I didn't bother cranking the machine all the way up.Thanks,Pete

Reply:Your machine should be capable of doing alum mig on 3/16" alum with the machine close to maxed out on volts and wire speed running .030 alum wire in a spoolgun with 100% argon if you are running on 230v power. 1/4" is probably a stretch with what you have available. .035 alum wire would also possibly work with the wire speed set a bit lower. Note duty cycle when maxed out on that machine will be on the short side, and weld quality will probably drop off after you exceed the duty cycle, even though the machine will still weld..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Thank guy's for the info................Yes, I'm using 100% argon. I must accept the "stupid award" for not looking at the charts on the welder. I've been so accustomed to setting steel wire by ear, that I stopped looking and forgot about the charts inside for aluminum settings..
