Here are a few pics of what I did over the summer. I am a sophomore at North Dakota State University. This job is mainly a "resume builder" as i am majoring in Agricultural Engineering. When I am done with school the companies that would hire me like to see some hands on experience with machinery and tools etc. which I agree with because I learned quite a bit that you cant learn in a classroom. What I did this summer was make header trailer parts. Here are the trailers.http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1313202676Here are what we call "gangs" the 30ft trailers have 3 gangs and the 35ft trailers have 4. I welded up 148 of them.http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1313202949This piece fits in the gang and holds the header on.http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1313203157Here are the axles, I don't weld the axles up but i did cut the pieces for themhttp://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1313203380We also make a header trailer that has a narrow dolly on the front of them. My co-worker welds the "gooseneck " on the tubes.http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1313203663 Attached Images
Reply:Here is some of the equipment we have in the shop.the brake, press and paint booth are pictured. there are about 7 welders in the shop 2 iron workers, one lathe and a couple drill presses just to name off my head. My boss has about 50 some years of experience. He says blacksmithing has been in his family for 300 years. his grandpa was the first to stick weld in our area and his dad bought the first mig welder the welding supplier had. he was 9 years old when he first stick welded. Now he wants me to buy this business from him for a million dollars so he can retire. haha Attached Images
Reply:my boss practically owns the small town where this shop is so he has a lot of grass to mow. here is one of those swisher trail post trimmers he had me make a mount to go on his cub cadet zero turn mower. it was first on the front of his dixon mower but we turned it around so it threw the debris away from him and made the mount simpler. Reply:I forgot the dolly for the gooseneck trailer. my co-worker tacked them up and i welded them up. Attached Images

Reply:I did the same thing when I was in school, also worked in a machine shop while I was getting my manufacturing engineering degree.  Employers LOVE to see that stuff on your resume.  You do some nice work, keep it up.Millermatic 135Syncrowave 250
