I have a Red-D-Arc 360 hooked up to a 22A feeder running .045" Lincoln Innershield NR-211MP flux cored wire. All the welds I have made seem to lack any flux coverage on the top of the weld. All the flux seems to be deposited at the base of the bead. Has anyone seen this before and is it normal for this wire? The flux is also a whitish color, I'm not sure if it is supposed to look like stick fluxes.Constant Specs-15 degree cant on the gun, pullingInductance 0% to 10%5/8" CTWD (stickout)Material Specs-1/8" MS plate, slightly rusty70 IPM feed rate*15V, registers as about 120A on the machine*1/4" MS plate, some scale130 IPM feed rate*18V, registers as 225A on the machine*(*) These values were according to a brochure I downloaded from Lincoln.

Reply:The white color flux is normal. It usually covers the whole weld, but can run to the low side if you're running a horizontal. Or perhaps the wire old.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:I forgot to add that all these welds were made in the flat position, and none of them had a flux coating over the top surface. I tried every setting I could from not running to 20V. I went back today and ran a horizontal weld on a t-joint and it worked perfectly.
