I ordered a used Miller TIG Foot Control RFCS-23 ($58.00) and now I am wondering if I can convert it over to use with my Miller Maxstar 152 TIG. The Maxstar has the 14pin connector for the RFC-14. It is a older unit I believe from around 1997???I have no problem converting the 5 pin amptrol to a 14 pin but I was more worried about the resister compatibility in ohms and watts. I realize this is not the way to do it but I am currently on a tight budget. My Maxstar has a serial number beginning with KGxxxxxx. I hope this helps. Basically I want to make this RFCS-23 work with my Maxstar 152. As I have not yet received the unit, I cannot say if it has the wound resister for sure but according to what I have seen in the parts books it seems most likely it will be. Also, it looks like the older RFC-14 may have had a potentiometer instead of a rheostat type of resister with the wiper brush.Miller Maxstar 172 TIG (3ph)) converted to Maxstar 152 TIG (1ph), Harris & Victor Oxy/Act, Lincoln WeldPak Pro100, Radioshack 15w Soldering Iron but I want MORE and my wife says
Reply:It is my understanding that if the resistor value of the potentiometer is the same as the factory recommended foot pedal for your power supply, you are good to go. I think there can be an issue if the resistance is different, the current through the control circuit will be different, I = V/R.
Reply:Well, I got the information I needed. Basically they all use the same three wire variable resistor wiring with a on/off switch for a total of 5 wires. Some of the units add a 6th wire as a ground. So I have to do is go from a 5 pin to a 14 pin Any one got a 14 pin male out there for sale, shipping or even free? Here is the information with pin info in same order:Older Models:RFC-14 & RFCS-23 use a 130w 1000 ohm wire wound adjustable resistor just different connector (14 pin versus 5 pin).RFC-23A & RFC-23AG use a 130w 15 ohm wire wound adjustable resistor with two wires with different connectors (two twist lock where amp control is 3 pin and on/off is 2 pin).RFC-23GF25A uses a 300w 25 ohm wire wound adjustable resistor with two wires with just different connector (two twist lock where amp control is 4 pin and on/off is 2 pin).Newer models:RFCS-5, RFCS-5HD, RFCS-6M, RFCS-14, and RFCS-14HD use the same rated potentiometer type resistor but they do not list the watts or ohms in the parts list that I have found yet. Also, for most of the list they have different pin connectors. I was only needing information on the older units so I will not go into the research for the newer units.I hope this helps anyone out there needing to convert one control unit to another.Miller Maxstar 172 TIG (3ph)) converted to Maxstar 152 TIG (1ph), Harris & Victor Oxy/Act, Lincoln WeldPak Pro100, Radioshack 15w Soldering Iron but I want MORE and my wife says

Reply:Got my foot control in today ... anyone out there know the exact 14 pin amphenol part number for the male version so I can get a wirin'I know there is a MIller number but I really prefer the same part without the pretty blue parts bag and the fee you pay for the pretty blue ink.Miller Maxstar 172 TIG (3ph)) converted to Maxstar 152 TIG (1ph), Harris & Victor Oxy/Act, Lincoln WeldPak Pro100, Radioshack 15w Soldering Iron but I want MORE and my wife says
