Hey guys!! Well, a little while back, I decided that a plasma cutter would be worth having for a few reasons, the cost and un-avability of gas here locally, and the fact that most of what I work on is painted and dirty and nasty, and because they're just plain cool. Atleast to me.I started shopping around and decided to save up for a good one, and on Monday night, I ordered a brand new Hypertherm Powermax 45 off of E-Bay and it was here at the farm on Wednesday afternoon. I couldn't believe it!! Haha. That was free shipping, too I could have gone with the PowerMax 30 since most of what I work on is 1/4" steel and less, but I didnt because I want some room to grow, and I hate maxing out my machines, especially on a regular basis. Plus I can gouge with the 45!! Ive never plasma gouged before, (just done a little arc-air), but I cant wait to try!! The gouging tips are coming with the good motorguard air filter here in a little while. I hear plasma is a lot better... Well, its my first ever plasma cutter, and first ever purchase online, and Im thrilled!! Im still really excited about it, and I just wanted to share this video with yall. I dont have any pictures just yet, but they're coming soon. I asked about this plasma cutter a few days ago and Im sure glad that I did. I appreciate the advice from yall, thanks for watching, and have a nice day everyone  [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T2nTQLfwoM[/ame][Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. Reply:Just a quick suggestion.  for travel speed, if sparks start kicking back out the front side of the plate then slow down to a speed at which all the sparks are coming out the back side of the plate.  found that works well as a guide for me.Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250

Reply:Again, congrats on the new machine Lance.  Might want to consider directing your cutting sparks away from the back of (or any part) the machine though.  Don't want any sparks flyin' around inside trying to make more.Is that a Farmall C-123 block I see in the background?MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!

Reply:You'll love the Powermax. We have a Powermax 1650 with hand torch and machine torch that we use on a pantograph and it is an animal. It's rated to 1.5" and we have cut 2" with a cut I would call better than "severance". I have the opportunity to buy a Powermax 1000 for home for $500, the only problem is I don't have enough compressor to run it.Millermatic 200Hobart Handler 120Victor O/A & Ramco BandsawLincoln 225 ACSnapOn AD HoodMiller XMT304/22AHypertherm Powermax 1650 G3Lincoln Idealarc DC600 w/Extreme 12 VSMiller Digital Elite "Joker"
Reply:As long as the compressor keeps its pressure above about 85 psi...the plasma will operate. Even a small compressor with less than 6 cfm@90 psi will run a plasma......for a period of time until the pressure gets too low. I have used my Powermax45 in the field running off the portable compressor made for nail guns....I can get about 45 seconds of continuous cut untill the pressure has to build back up. If you can get a Powermax1000 for $500....you should jump on it!Jim
