Hi guys - I have to make some interior shelves on a project and need some sheet metal 52" long (leaving me about 3/4" to cut and mess with) and 12" wide.  Does anyone know of a retailer online that will sell larger than 12" x 48"?  Thanks!Miller Diversion 180Hobart Handler 140 (Soon to be replaced with Miller 211?)Miller Spectrum 625 Extreme
Reply:No but you should be able to find one local. You might check with Pennsylvania Steel in Bensalem, Met-L-Center in Warminster or Joseph Fazzio's in Glassboro NJ just to name 3 off the top of my head. There are a few others in the area I've dealt with in the past as well that are a bit farther out like Hoover out towards Harleysville, as well as several fab shops in the area that could probably shear material for you. They may not have "bar" stock that size, but they can probably shear what you need out of sheet, especially if you need several pieces. Fazzio's or PA Steel may stock 5' sheets of 16 ga or so. if not, they'd probably have to come out of the long part of an 8' sheet. I'm pretty sure Met-L-Center has a shear ( I'd have to double check that), and I know Fazzios has one that will shear at least 8' ( drive to Glassboro is a hike, but it's well worth the trip if you have never been to their store. They do have Saturday hours)I know Fazzio stocks 5' wide sheets of 14 ga when I checked around Christmas. I can't remember if I called PA Steel or not back then to see if they stocked it. I'll probably find out middle to end of next month when I finally get the prototype of the backstop approved for the air rifle range. If you could use 4 pieces and cut it yourself with a circular saw and ferrous blade, Finkels in Lambertville NJ, sells sheet by the foot. If you could use 4 of those pieces, a 4' wide by 5' long sheet would work..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Thanks DSW - my biggest problem is time and ability to transport.  I got rid of my Land Rover which I used to haul stuff in and now have 4 BMWs that will not fit anything that long in.  I work 7 - 5:30 which makes it tough because I've found most of the local guys are closed after 4:30-5:00.  Weak!It's worth the extra like $20 to me to just have it shipped, if possible.  I can call around though.Miller Diversion 180Hobart Handler 140 (Soon to be replaced with Miller 211?)Miller Spectrum 625 Extreme
Reply:Seems a bit strange, but OK. I can understand the time thing though, I run into that issue regularly.I've fit much larger pieces inside vehicles in the past. 12" x 60" shouldn't be a huge deal, especially with something as flexible as 16 ga sheet. I'd bet they'd fit just fine from the floor of the passenger seat up the back of the seat. ( I carried a 60" recurve bow that way on Saturday in the front seat up the truck). Weight wise it's not even that bad. A few 1x's to stiffen it all and it can ride tied to the roof. I'm a bit spoiled... My last real car was wide enough to fit a bathtub across the back seat and still close the doors ( 71 Plymouth ) My pickup is just as wide, but the extended cab doors are too small to stuff the tub in even turned sideways.I'd bet PA Steel delivers. It will cost you though, especially if you only need a few pieces. Don't know about Met-L-Center. I pick up all my stuff from them. The owner is a pretty good guy though. He'd probably leave it out for you if you knew you were just going to be a bit later than he's open..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:These are my go to sights for metal when I can't get it in my shop..http://www.onlinemetals.com/http://www.speedymetals.com/This next one I like the best price wise. And you can buy steel from them not just stainlesshttps://www.stainlesssupply.com/order-metal-online/Your can buy pieces of however big you want up too a full sheet.  Usually they charge a bit extra for odd sizes but 12x52 shouldn't be a problem.

Reply:Yea I'm not a big fan of McMaster either .Although they ship lightning FAST. But "stainless supply". Is pretty good with shipping. And I think the last time I ordered from them they shipped next day. But on the sight in the bottom right hand corner is says "order by 2 PM EST" same day shipping available. They ship from NC. I'm sure you can call and see if they can process the order the same day...
