Purge gas for titanium

would c25 cause an world wide extinction event? it's a motorcycle exhaust...problem is I don't have double regulators for my argon bottle and I'm also low on gas, it's a 10 min job ...I learned the hard way it was Ti, customer said it's SS it looked a bit weird , all hell braked loose when I added a bit of SS filler I could see the factory spot welds were not purged or backed ...--------------------------------------------------------------www.becmotors.nlyup, I quit welding.. joined welder anonymous

Reply:No way.Co2 in any amount can break down next to the weld and introduce oxygen into the weld. If you don't have a second bottle and flowmeter, you could in a pinch add a valved "Y" and a hose to your existing bottle. But you have to be very careful to still have enough gas coming out of your torch when you actually weld. You won't be able to trust the flowmeter reading any longer. You could check that flow to the torch with a portable flowmeter.
