I know this is not welding but I saw this today and I had to show somebody, it wasn't 2 weeks ago I saw a guy on two tied together extention ladders and now today I see this guy coming of the highway (speed limit is 75mph on that highway).  He's got it roped down to the roof rack I couldn't believe it hadn't pulled the thing off.   Between the guy with the pallets on one side and the guy with the ladder in front of me, It was just too much.  If your wandering, Im in my old 79 ford, I use it to haul scrap.Last edited by woodweld1; 07-15-2011 at 04:21 PM.
Reply:in chicago they usually dont even tie em down...
Reply:I was thinking about your ladder thread this afternoon as I drove back from the city. Saw two guys putting an extension ladder up on the roof. they were using ALL of at least a 32' ladder if not a 40' one to reach the eve of the 2nd story in the front. Length at the base was longer than the height. Ladder was probably at a 35-40 deg angle. I'll give them the fact they were trying to go over the front porch, but if they'd set the ladder next to the side of the porch rather than dead center they probably only needed to extend the ladder 5 foot at most. I wished I hadn't left the camera at the house this morning. They tied it all to the chinsy roof rack as well. I'd have at least gone thru the rear windows..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:He's under 13'-6" high and the ladder guy is less than 102" wide so they're good to go! At least he filled the back with them as well to keep his CofG in check. Reply:Speed limit on THAT road is 75 MPH? How fast is he driving with that get-up? From the looks of the pictures, we have 3 drivers doing dumb things. One with his ladder cross ways of his truck, one with a bunch of pallets stacked on the roof and another taking pictures while driving(distracted driving, did you text this to the website?) The guy with the pallets should lower his center of gravity and put half of them on the hood, this way his rig wouldn't be squatted down in the back so much.
Reply:I'm not thinking that is a 75MPH road with that open driveway just ahead of the Jeep with the pallets.  New Mexico is quite behind the times and good logic, but a 75MPH road has limited access.
Reply:The OP indicated "Pallet Man" had just exited the limited access 75mph limit highway.  At least that's how I read it.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!

Reply:they are turned the right direction to allow air flow. now the ladder on in the bed of the truck you are following seems it may present a danger also.
Reply:there's no way that palletman goes 75mph.....30mph can topple those pallets down.Duane, can't believe you have all these welders: that's just WOW!...which do you like the most?MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1Aircomatic MIGet CAV IIT/D PakMaster 100XLMarquette Star Jet 21-110

Reply:My brothers good friend was killed when a sheet of plywood blew out of the back of a truck while riding his motorcycle. That should be a thousand dollar fine and 6 months in jail for risking other peoples lives like that.
Reply:Doesn't seem to warrant the freak-outage.Skids weigh nothing and he's got a bunch of rope on it.It does look unusual though...but...yeah, doesn't warrant freak-outage.

Reply:On the way home last week, there was a small car with an extension ladder sticking out both rear windows about 2 feet. If it were to get hit or hung up on something, the driver would have lost his head. Too bad my phone sucks, or I would have posted the pic here.UA Local 598
