Some of the work filling my time lately.

Here's a few shots of some of the recent and current projects. Many are still in progress and I'll try to get some shots to complete them.  First is a pic of the cement truck we redid last month. It's back now that they've got all the portland out of it so I can build a new frame for the mixer. The second pic shows the remains of the truck after they laid it on it's side. I put that truck on the front of the frame about 6 years ago and my splice held through the rolling of the truck so I guess I did alright.  The third and fourth are of a screw compressor we took apart, cleaned, and replaced the seal on. Reply:Next is the welding trailer I just finished today. I built this for my dad using the bed he got for my nephew. It was done as cheaply as possible. I've still got to get the safety chains on it but other than that it's done.   The last pic is what I'm fixing to build my new portable shop/welding trailer out of. It will be a gooseneck when I'm done with it. Reply:This set of pics is of a spray rig we're working on right now.  The second pic shows the problem. We fixed the one in the third pic last year and put it back like factory. Reply:Here's the last pic of the sprayer for now. This the factory setup for the pivot. The bearings are nowhere near big enough to handle the load put on these things in the field. Reply:This last set of pics might look familiar to those who've been around a while. I posted this unit last year under the eze out thread. As predicted it's back. This time I've got permission to fix it right. As you can see the bolts I put in it last year have failed. Well one of them did the other rattled out. Notice also the bolt they put into the transmission base is missing whether broken or rattled out I don't know. The spline is also worn but not much I can do with that other than make a new sprocket. There will be more pics coming of the sprocket and spline later. Reply:Here's a update on the pulling unit.  I had to make a new sprocket with spline. The spline on this transmission is obsolete so I had to go digging in some junk piles before I found one that was right. When I did it was in the form of yoke made to go next to a carrier bearing. The first shots shows me getting rid of what I could with the portaband. The second shots shows how far I got it down with the band saw. The third is bulking out the sprocket with the 2 1/4" drill in the drill press. The last two shots shows the new and old after my helper machined and pressed them together. Reply:Here's how I stiffened up the transmission so that it would quit breaking mounting bolts. That's a 1 1/4" B70 grade threaded rod I used for a jack screw. I doubled the plate and made it fit the side of the transmission as close as I could. The pipe is 2 3/8" OD XXXX pipe with about a 1 1/2" hole in it. You can see the original jack screw below it. This was the only way I could figure to attach to the transmission in a strong enough manner. There just wasn't any bolts on the back strong enough to take the beating.   The second shot shows the sprocket in place. The third shows the broken mounting bolt after I removed it. There's enough who know to keep me pretty busy most of the time (actually too busy a lot of the time like now).   Get lots of people in the way, trained more than one who went on to bigger things, changed the life of a few young people not always in a good way. Reply:Relatively common in heavy chain.
