Goodmorning everyone!! Here's a little video I put together recently, about common problems that people have when they first MIG weld, what causes them, and how to solve them...This video covers:-Travel Speed (Too fast, and Too slow)-Setting Wire-Feed Speed (Too Much wire... And Not Enough)-Too Much and Too Little Stick-Out-Wrong Polarity-Shielding Gas Issues-Welding Too Hot & Too Cold[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJDv7Y6dUi0[/ame]Hope it helps... Enjoy the video, and have an great weekend everyone [Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009

Reply:I need to rewatch that a few times. I just got my new mig welder and coming from a small flux core machine to this one I am having trouble getting things nailed down. Thanks for posting this, now I wonder if my polarity is switched, but you would think if Miller sells a machine and includes solid wire, that the polarity would be correct when you pull it out of the box, lol...
Reply:Glad it helped you! Might wanna try it, my Hobart came with a little spool of FC wire, and it was wired accordingly. I had some issues, like I said in the video. It can't hurt [Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009
Reply:LanseGood job like to watch your stuff just to see what I can learn. I have had my mig machine for a number of years,  it is always good to watch others never know what one could learn. Thumbs up to what you are doing for the beginner welders of the world, taking the time to educate is a good thing.Well doneGregMagazines have issues, everything else has problems
Reply:Lanse,I tripple checked and my polarity is wired as it should be, but I think I had 2 (maybe 3) issues combined that were making it similar looking welds to your reverse polarity weld. It looks like I had too much stickout and was reading the wrong chart for my welder, it's a multi voltage welder and I was reading the 240 volt chart and not the 120 volt that the machine was plugged in with so my wire feed was too fast for the voltage setteing, also I had very little gas hitting the puddle, but this could have been because I had to much stickout, but I increased the pressure to 25 (from 18) to help compensate. So I read the correct chart, pushed the nozzle in closer to the work piece, and bumped up the gas pressure and it produced pretty good results. I only have small scraps around the garage, but was able to weld a 24ga razor blade to a 14ga bracket (burned through at the end of the weld where the blade gets thinner) but welded on great, then but welded 2 pieces of 14ga and it was an almost perfect weld, the start was a little bad because I have almost no light in the shop and had to find the joint after the puddle formed, but other than that it was a good weld. Thanks for the video and tips on things to look into all in one place...
