Reply:75 25 is the usual. some heavy welders do the flux and gas but for most stuff it is a waste
Reply:75 25 what king and what is the cost of a tank and gas round about

Reply:Hello mafiacustomz, 100% CO2 works well with your machine but will likely give you more spatter to contend with under some circumstances. Otherwise, 75%Arg/25%CO2 will do nicely for a shielding gas. You do not want to use a shielding gas of any sort when you are using the self-shielded flux core wire as it can lead to hardness or cracking issues in the weld deposit or both. You could find a gas shielded flux cored wire that would fit onto your machine if it is capable of taking .035 wire, but you wouldn't have enough power to operate it properly. These are just a few items for your consideration. Best regards, Allanaevald
Reply:i have .035 wire in it now thats what the welder calls for and a .024 mig i looked online and alot of welders call for .023 mig but that i dont know what is the sizes of tanks and what do they go for
Reply:Prices vary for cylinders, you need to check with your supplier. As a reference my supplier show a 20 cf cyl with fill for $70, a 60cf cyl for $117, and an 80cf cyl for $161 in the old flyer thats laying on my desk. If you choose to go with 100% CO2 you will need an adapter to use most standard mig regs. CO2 is usually cheaper gas wise and I don't know if the above prices include CO2 cylders or not. Don't forget to include the price of the required adapter when comparing costs to standard mig gas. ( I find 75/25 gives a nicer weld, so I don't bother with CO2. Also check fill prices. Larger cylinders are usually cheaper per cf of gas for fills. For example I can get my 282cf cyl of O2 filled for about $12 more than it costs me to get my small 100cf cyl filled. I get almost 3x the gas for less than 30% more. Guess which gets used most.Note many inexpensive "Mig's" are FC only machines. Going to gas mig may or may not be possible depending on how the machine was designed. Some have a "kit" to change over, others don't. As far as wire, .023/.024 are used somewhat interchangibly and are basically the same..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear.
