Was given a pack of tungstens that are a little rusty. Seems they got wet somehow. Should i just clean them or buy new? Also saw these on Ebay and was wondering if any of you have bought and used them. Worthwhile or are they junk? Thanks.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IThttp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Reply:I would clean them with a scotch-brite pad and try them out.I didn't look at the ebay link.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Tungsten doesn't 'rust' so it it appears rusty, it has rust or something on it from elsewhere. I agree with DR; clean them, then use them.If you need them to be fully certified and unaltered so that ......, you can send them to me and I'll find a use for them.As for the link, the product and its description are both imported; what does "*Good tractility" mean?

Reply:As noted in the recent discussion on the best electrode for AC, there is a huge difference in the quality and performance of electrodes from various suppliers. See this link: http://www.diamondground.com/frequen...-tungsten.html these are the suppliers they use: Sylvania / GTP® - Made in the USWolfram Industries® - Made in GermanyPlansee® - made in AustriaChina, no.

Reply:Any idea of where Wolfram thoriateds are made?
Reply:No, unless in China [for the German company] as mentioned above, but Wolfram is the old (original?) name for Tungsten.Last edited by Oldiron2; 11-11-2010 at 03:44 PM.
Reply:I just ordered my tri-mix sample. It'll be nice to see how that stuff runs, they do talk it up quite a bit. |
