Has anyone heard of this being done?
Reply:You can run a voltage sensing wire feeder on a CC machine, but it doesn't work all that well for most applications. Small wire in short arc runs like cr@p in CC. If the machine has the power you can run large wire FC in spray fairly well, but vertical and overhead will be a real PITA. For what you will probably pay for a VS type feeder, you'd be better off just getting a stand alone 220v mig..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Yeah,I' ve seen a couple of uniformed Chinese clone importers (not us) advertise their tigs would run spool guns, all you had to do was connect it up just because the fittings would interchange. They also advertise CC only. I've had so many calls on this myself, asking me why we don't do this too. I get tired of explaining, it just ain't gonna happen. Reply:Personally, I feel there are different ways of understanding the meaning. I will choose the meaning that makes sense. Wire feeding systems exist today, a guy on this forum, named Kevin uses a TIG gun. http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=41456 if you scroll to post #8 you can see what I am talking about.TIG stands for tungsten inert gas. If tungsten isn't where the arc is form to and from, then it isn't TIG. There are all kinds of options as far as feeding MIG wire into your TIG puddle, you could do this without much of a challenge I would bet. Sometimes I imagine getting an inverter or converter or whatever it would need to power a spoolgun's motor and then just try to combine the two in hand.I've had plans to make something like this for myself, maybe someday when I have the time I will work on it.Miller 330 a/bp water cooledI believe in gun control, I hold my gun with two hands.
